Summary Pertamina NRE wants to meet domestic demand for clean hydrogen by 2027 and become Asia’s market leader from 2031 onwards. “The clean hydrogen prospect is huge. Indonesia may not produce the cheapest hydrogen, but the current geopolitical conditions mean that the global market needs to diversify its supply sources, and Indonesia can become a major player in Asia,” Pertamina NRE CEO Dannif Danusaputro said on Tuesday.According to Dannif, decarbonization is not only about electricity generation but also the transportation sector as one of the largest contributors to carbon emissions. “Clean hydrogen will have an important role in decarbonizing hard-to-abate sectors, such as transportation, cement, fertilizer, petrochemical, and oil processing industries,” he said.
