Impax COP26 diary: The winners and losers of the clean transport race

In the fourth of this series, Chris Dodwell, head of policy and advocacy at Impax Asset Management, reflects on progress made on ‘transport’ day at COP26. 
As we move towards the endgame of climate negotiations in Glasgow, there is an inevitable focus on whether new national targets and sectoral pledges made at COP26 are enough to deliver the halving of global emissions needed by 2030.
The challenge of charting a new sustainable course for the global economy is vast. Turning the supertanker around requires a deliberate set of smaller scale interventions. I think we may end up looking back on the sector-by-sector approach taken at this COP as one that inspired progress in decarbonising key parts of the economy.
