TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WAWV/WTWO) – Solar energy suppliers have seen an increase in customers interested in solar and wind technologies.
There are many projects in the works, like the two solar farms set to come to Vigo and Sullivan counties. Duke Energy said they are in the mid development stages of both projects. Additionally, One Planet Solar and Wind in Terre Haute said they recently finished a solar roof on the Vigo County Jail and more .
Heath Norrick with Duke Energy Sustainable Solutions said the recent interest in solar energy coincides as fossil fuels resources have reached their full life cycle.
“We’ve very traditionally been a fossil fuel derived generation that was built back in the 40’s, 50’s, 60’s and even into the 70’s,” Norrick said.
Norrick said it’s time for a replacement for new generation resources.
