Could hydrogen be the clean fuel of the future?

Up until now ,fuel cells have had a bumpy, sporadic ride. First imagined in 1839, they finally moved into a real-world application in the 1960s, when NASA developed them as a way to generate electricity on Apollo spacecraft.Then, 40 years later, President George W. Bush pledged more than a billion dollars in federal funding to spur widespread adoption of hydrogen fuel cell cars.George W. Bush, Former President of the United States: With a new national commitment, our scientists and engineers will overcome obstacles to taking these cars from laboratory to showroom, so that the first car driven by a child born today could be powered by hydrogen and pollution-free.(APPLAUSE)
