Sustainable batteries are a key technology for a carbon-free economy and for delivering on the green energy transition and digitalisation ambitions of the EU. Amongst others, batteries offer solutions to store renewable energy and power electric vehicles (EVs) as well as for mobile communication devices. When designing the comprehensive framework regulating batteries, policymakers should guarantee that all measures of the European Batteries Regulation can deliver on advancing the energy and digital transitions while ensuring the European batteries value chain becomes a competitive global leader.
