State-owned State Power Investment Corp. (SPIC) accelerated its green transition in 2022, with its share of electricity generated from non-fossil fuel sources hitting a record high since its founding in 2015.
SPIC — one of China’s “big five” power companies — said on Wednesday that its total installed generation capacity reached 212 million kilowatts in 2022, nearly 66% of which came from hydropower, solar power, wind power and also nuclear energy sources, up by 4.5 percentage points from 2021. The firm did not break down the figures by energy source.
