Energy Storage Company Announces $279 Million South Carolina Battery Factory

A newly formed producer of battery energy storage systems will establish a new manufacturing facility in southern South Carolina, state and company officials announced.
Pomega Energy Storage Technologies, established earlier this year by Turkish engineering company Kontrolmatik Technologies, said its new battery factory near Walterboro, South Carolina, would be able to build the equivalent of three gigawatt-hours of lithium-ion batteries. The plant will also produce modules and other components of its containerized energy storage products.
