Portugal, Spain working on joint energy storage project – EURACTIV.com

A ‘very important project’ between Portugal and Spain for joint energy storage on the Iberian Peninsula to mitigate matters like the energy crisis and drought was announced by Portuguese Prime Minister António Costa on Thursday.
“Before the three-way meeting, we had a working meeting with the government of Spain and, to complete the Iberian market, in addition to strengthening interconnections and the electrical connection […] we will also develop another very important project, which has to do with the joint storage of energy,” said Costa.
Speaking on arrival at the European Council in Brussels and at the end of a meeting this morning with the Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez, Costa pointed out that “the big challenge in the energy transition is how to store energy produced.”
