October 18 (Renewables Now) – The battery component of the USD-1.2-billion (EUR 1.24bn) Gemini solar-plus-storage complex near Las Vegas, Nevada, will deploy the technology of China’s Contemporary Amperex Technology Co Ltd (SHE:300750), or CATL.CATL’s advanced EnerOne storage solution has been picked for the site’s battery storage facility, Primergy Solar LLC said on Monday. The latter, a portfolio company of renewables infrastructure investor Quinbrook Infrastructure Partners, is the majority owner of Gemini. The scheme’s co-owner is Dutch pension asset manager APG, which last week purchased a 49% stake.The Gemini project will feature a 690-MW AC/966-MW DC photovoltaic (PV) park with more than 1.8 million modules and 380 MW/1,416 MWh of battery storage capacity.
