​India’s desert state Rajasthan emerges leader in solar energy investment

Photo : iStockJaipur: Rajasthan has become the nation’s solar powerhouse after producing 10 GW of solar power capacity and is now luring fresh investments in the renewable energy sector. On Thursday, Coal India Limited and Rajasthan Vidyut Utpadan Nigam (RVUN) inked a memorandum of understanding to establish a 1,190 MW solar power project in this location, reported The Hindu. At the time, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot stated that the State government’s new policies on solar and wind energy as well as the streamlining of regulations were the main reasons for investments continuing to flow in. He said that at the Invest Rajasthan Summit-2022, held in Jaipur earlier this month, the greatest number of Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) had been inked in the solar energy sector.
