Ford Motor Company plans to evaluate its hydrogen fuel cell technology in commercial vehicle fleets under a new partnership with a plumbing supply company.
Ferguson Enterprises, a Virginia-based distributor of plumbing, PVF, water, and fire products, said the automaker would place its F550 prototype fuel cell work truck chassis into Ferguson’s daily operations as part of a six-month pilot project. The F550 prototype was developed as part of the “SuperTruck” initiative, part of a U.S. Energy Department program that aims to improve vehicle fuel efficiency and reduce emissions.
