Good news on solar energy+gun safety, bad news on representative democracy for LRSD

Last night at the Little Rock School Board meeting, we saw the best of democratic grassroots organizing and we saw the worst of representative government.
Under pressure from students from Central High School, a majority of the board voted to approve a Request for Proposals (RFP) for an energy audit and for a solar-energy contract. This battle is not over, but this was a big win against corporate greed and backroom shenanigans. At the same time, a majority of our board voted to give away their constitutionally mandated requirement to visit our schools and instead became subservient to the superintendent to whom they must now grovel for permission to visit our schools.
