Land behind Inverness karting centre is being eyed up.The company behind the venture, Intelligent Land Investments (ILI) has leafleted households to gauge public reaction and gain feedback prior to lodging a planning application.ILI say the Fairways Energy Storage project is planned to fill a need for increased energy storage due to the current move from fossil fuelled energy generation to renewables such as wind.Technology advances mean this renewable energy can now be stored in large batteries for feeding into the grid to meet demand.ILI is involved in numerous similar ventures throughout the country, including a similar sized bid at Ardross in Easter Ross.The Fairways project would comprise a compound of electrical equipment, battery units, transformers, stores and a control room.There would also be some new planting of trees.
