Germany opens green hydrogen doors to Australia

Germany, which has been forced to consider alternative energy sources to Russian gas after the invasion of Ukraine, is expecting its first deliveries of green hydrogen in just 36 months’ time, in 2025 – including from Fortescue Future Industries. But the real breakthrough in green hydrogen will probably come in about 2030, said Michael Volkermann, global head of project finance, trade finance and lending at Deutsche Bank.“From a project finance perspective, this is around the corner: the market needs to ramp it up now, and that’s not really a financing question in the first place.
