Researchers have developed a new way to generate electricity from moving sea waves that’s also cheaper than any other renewable energy source out there, reveals a new report by The Independent.
UnsplashDubbed the Waveline magnet, the device is a spine-like device that floats in the sea, placed perpendicular to the shore and captures the kinetic energy of waves.
The company that developed this, Sea Wave Energy Ltd. (SWEL), claims it is capable of powering substantial power on demand in ‘any wave environment’, with minimum maintenance costs. The novel setup has been tested in wave tanks as well as on sea and is capable of generating electricity far more efficiently than methods that are currently in practice.Adam Zakheos, chief technology officer of SWEL explained “Wave and tidal experts must re-evaluate their thought process and understanding of the wave….
