Copeland councillors to decide on bid to extend energy storage facility

PLANS have been lodged to extend and existing energy storage facility in Egremont.

Copeland Borough Council has received an application for planning permission to extend an operational energy storage facility at Woodend Farm in Egremont.

The proposal has been submitted on behalf of Cleator Battery Storage who hope to add three new cubed battery containers and with the associated power converters; a new control room, lighting and CCTV.

In supporting statements received by the council, the agent said: “Energy storage facilities are a key component of a low carbon and decentralised energy system as part of a supply management system.”

They believe that the proposal will mean a low carbon solution to demand on the nation’s energy supply.
