JOHANNESBURG – Eskom’s new proposed tariff structure could see households paying the power utility extra for using solar energy.
The embattled utility says those using solar power while still connected to the national grid, may cough up over R900 more each month.

Eskom is looking for new ways to make money and consumers will have no choice but to comply if Nersa gives the green light for the proposal.
The utility says the new tariff structure will be split into two billing systems.
There will be a fee for using the national grid and another fee for usage.
