Eastern Generation gets nod for 135 MW of NY batteries, plans more

June 23 (Renewables Now) – The New York Public Service Commission (NYPSC) has approved an application from Eastern Generation LLC for a permit to build over 135 MW of energy storage at the Astoria Generating Station.Specifically, the company has obtained a Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity (CPCN) for the Astoria project and intends to apply for permits of the same type for two other energy storage facilities, totalling 350 MW, at its Gowanus and Narrows stations.
