India’s renewable energy consultancy and project developer GreenZo Energy Pvt Ltd is planning to set up a 250-MW electrolyzer factory at an investment of Rs 300-400 crore to reduce the country’s dependence on its import. The company plans to commence commercial production by 2025. This project assumes significance as the cost of green hydrogen generation across the world including India is very high. Local production of electrolyzers, therefore, is crucial to bringing down the cost of green hydrogen to US$1-2 per kilogram by 2030.The company has also made an announcement to invest Rs 7 crore in the research and development for the 250 MW PEM technology production of the green hydrogen electrolyzer in 2022-23.
