Pierson Township implements solar energy moratorium

The Pierson Township Board voted on Monday to place a four-month moratorium on issuing solar energy permits while the Planning Commission works on creating a solar ordinance. PIERSON TOWNSHIP — The Pierson Township Board met for its first meeting of the new year on Monday, and while it was a dark and rainy evening, the focus was on the sun — solar energy, to be exact.
The township board voted 4-0 to place a moratorium on issuing solar energy permits within the township while the Planning Commission begins work on creating a solar ordinance.
