Muhamed Kamoga, a resident of Ntinda B zone, in Nakawa division says he is saving lots of money in cooking energy by using the new technology of solar energy-saving stoves. Kamoga says two years ago, he used to purchase a sack of charcoal at sh75,000 from Nakawa market, which would only work for one week. This means that Kamoga would spend sh300,000 on charcoal alone each month. “When I bought a solar energy cooking stove, my family saved almost 95% of my previous expenses on cooking,” he says.According to Yusuf Zziwa, the director and proprietor of Ebenezer Energy Saving Stoves Limited, this technology is here to save both the environment and people’s health. “These stoves are built in a way that they do not cause harm to one’s health or the destruction of the environment by cutting trees to burn charcoal.
