IT’s now clear that rain-fed electricity generation has not done well in Zambia. Every year, the news is the same. We are told that the power deficit will be resolved once this or that project is commissioned. Projects are being commissioned, but the problem is not going away. Governments keep changing, but the speeches and promises remain the same. Recently, we were told by the ruling party chief executive that load shedding was not planned for, but rather an act of God. We find this ironic because the same God has given us the power to think, plan and find solutions to our problems. The same God has also given us more sun than most developed countries.
