Kakinuma admits there will be hurdles, but Honda will keep providing customers with the joy of driving. While Kakinuma did not give more details, there is proof that Honda’s management is already looking at solutions.Recently, Honda’s CEO, Toshihiro Mibe, commented on solid-state batteries. He said these batteries would suit electric Type R models due to their unique traits. Solid-state batteries are widely believed to be the next big step forward for EVs as they’re smaller, more energy dense, and less prone to overheating. These are all attributes required in a Type R.”Compared to current EV batteries, this would help reduce the weight and would be effective for Type R and motorcycle applications as well,” said Mibe. “In the future, solid-state batteries will be the center for electric cars and motorcycles that have soul.”
