New consultation to revise existing boiler standards is seeking feedback on plans to scale up use of hybrid heat systems and to make hydrogen ready systems new industry standard
A proposal to mandate that all domestic gas boilers sold from 2026 are ‘hydrogen-ready’ has been set out by the government. The plans have been published in a consultation intended to revise and ramp up existing efficiency standards for all boilers being brought to the market.
A decision on whether the government views hydrogen as a suitable and cost-effective source of low carbon heat to decarbonise homes will not be made until 2026.
