Renewable electric power generation, grid modernization and alternative transportation all reached or exceeded prepandemic employment levels by the end of 2021, the report found.
Solar saw the largest share of job gains within renewable technology. The state found that the sector lost 421 workers from 2019 through 2020, a 3% decline, but grew by 1,086 workers or 9% from 2020 through 2021.
By the end of last year there were 398 offshore wind workers throughout the state, according to the report. With offshore wind projects in development this year and plans to majorly expand the sector over the next decade, the state expects to have more than 6,000 offshore wind workers by 2030.
