STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Con Edison’s “Clean Energy Academy,” which provides free advanced-level courses for workers looking to enter the burgeoning green energy industry, recently celebrated its 500th graduate since the effort began two years ago.Con Edison’s academy training includes training for lighting, HVAC, building envelope, heating and domestic hot water systems, clean heat and energy modeling, the company said, running between 30 to 60 hours alongside another 20 hours of professional development.The rush to train workers in highly-specialized jobs that will increasingly be needed as New York state continues its ambitious march towards its energy goals has been accelerating across multiple sectors.“Con Edison is very pleased to support the work of the Clean Energy Academy and its graduates,” said Shaun Hoyte, energy efficiency section manager for Con Edison….
