The landmark US climate law has potential to supercharge annual renewable energy investment to as much as $100bn, double present levels, and provide a long-term framework for sweeping carbon reduction in the electric grid, the CEO of American Council on Renewable Energy (Acore) told a Recharge industry event. The Inflation Reduction Act is “one of those rare instances where the hyperbole is all correct,” Greg Wetstone told the Recharge Global Offshore Wind Summit in Washington, DC. The US finally has “long term, stable policies to support and incentivise renewable generation,” he said, adding that this will ensure the renewables sector remains one of the nation’s most important economic drivers.
