India to Build its First Hydrogen Fuel Cell Catamaran Vessel

Cochin Shipyard signed an MoU with the Inland Waterways Authority of India to build the country’s first hydrogen fuel cell catamaran vessel for Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh. Another MoU was signed by the Shipyard for the construction of six electric catamaran vessels for Uttar Pradesh and two more such vessels for Guwahati.

The MoU by the Shipyard was signed in the presence of Union Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, Sarbananda Sonowal.
Union Minister for Heavy Industry Mahendra Nath Pandey, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, and other dignitaries were part of the event.
The Cochin Shipyard informed us that the air-conditioned hydrogen fuel cell catamaran vessel will have a seating capacity for 100 passengers.
