THE San Andres Aqua Culture Corp. (Sanacor) has tapped renewable energy to operate its shrimp farms in Sarangani.Engineer Shawna Mei Velasco said that Sanacor’s solar photovoltaics (PV) system was installed in 2019 and became operational in September 2020.”The solar PV system reduced electricity cost, grid power consumption, and waste and carbon footprint,” Velasco said.
The company has three shrimp farms with Sanacor 1 located in Lun Padidu, Malapatan, Sarangani, covering at least 64 hectares, while Sanacor 3 is in Batulaki, Glan, Sarangani, with at least 29 hectares.She said the Sanacor 2, the biggest shrimp farm in terms of pond areas and volume of production, is located in Alabel, Sarangani, covering at least 92 hectares.
