Neoenergia inks MoU for green hydrogen, offshore wind in Brazil

September 2 (Renewables Now) – Brazilian utility company Neoenergia SA (BVMF:NEOE3) has unveiled a plan to develop the Aguas Claras offshore wind scheme and a pilot green hydrogen project in Brazil’s Rio Grande do Sul state.On Wednesday, the company and the state government signed a three-year term memorandum of understanding (MoU) to carry out studies to promote the aforementioned clean energy technologies within the state’s Rio Grande Port.The planned facilities could benefit from the port infrastructure during the installation and operation phases.No further information about the projects was disclosed.According to a World Bank report, cited by Neoenergia, Brazil has the potential for 1.2 TW of offshore wind energy.In addition to the MoU in the Rio Grande do Sul state, the utility also signed green hydrogen…
