Nikki Fried explains why Florida clean energy goals are finally being implemented after 15 years

Update, August 10 6:15 p.m. The Florida Department of Agriculture announced Wednesday the finalization of new statewide renewable energy rules. According to a news release from Ag Commissioner Nikki Fried, the rules aim to increase the amount of renewable energy used by the state to 100% by 2050. In addition, each electric utility in the state will have to report the amount of renewable energy they produce or purchase every year.————

Florida has a new plan for moving toward cleaner energy. As we’ve been reporting this week, that’s thanks to some 200 young people who pushed state leaders and especially Agriculture Commissioner Nikki Fried to take action.
