Colombia, UAE forge clean energy alliance

News Colombia and the United Arab Emirates have signed a deal to jointly develop clean energy initiatives as both countries seek to wean their economies off fossil fuels. The alliance will focus on low-carbon hydrogen, non-conventional renewable energy sources, geothermal power and sustainable mobility, among other burgeoning business segments, Colombia’s mines and energy ministry said in a statement on Thursday. “With this memorandum of understanding we are going to exchange technology and knowledge with the United Arab Emirates in order to continue promoting the global energy transition,” energy minister Diego Mesa said.  United Arab Emirates was the world’s seventh largest oil producer in 2021 with average output of 3.7Mb/d, according to BP’s annual statistical review of world energy.
