The U.S. Department of Energy announced it gave $57.9 million to 30 projects to assist in decarbonizing the industrial sector, strengthening the country’s economic competitiveness, and advancing clean energy manufacturing.
The projects’ innovations will help to achieve the agency’s goal of net-zero carbon emissions by 2050, officials said. According to the DOE, the industrial sector was responsible for one-third of domestic greenhouse gas emissions.
