A bill that would give more power to state agencies in coming up with climate change regulations passed the state Senate late last week.
The Delaware Climate Change Solutions Act, follows the introduction of Delaware’s Climate Action Plan in 2021, and establishes a statutory requirement of greenhouse gas emission reductions, and establishes a process to address climate change in decision-making and rulemaking.
The bill backed by the governor passed on a party-line 13-6 vote with one Republican senator absent.
Opponents claimed the bill was aimed as an “end-around” move by Democrats in the process of approving major clean energy projects, including offshore wind. Click here for a look at their objections.
