Madison forming plans to meet yearly emissions, clean energy goals | Madison Eagle News

MADISON – A nearly all-electric fleet of non-emergency municipal vehicles, a 12-fold increase in the amount of solar power generated by Madison homes by 2050, seven times as many electric cars in resident’s garages by 2025.The goals are ambitious as Madison attempts to become the first small town in the state to implement a Climate Action Plan to cut greenhouse gas emissions and grow clean energy sources year over year, but the stakes are high amid a changing climate.

Municipal-level goals on greenhouse gas reduction and clean energy implementation are to be aligned with a state plan to achieve 100 percent clean energy reliance by 2050, and to cut greenhouse gas emissions by 80 percent below 2006 levels by that same year.Borough Council…
