The five new solar plants will be located in Andalucía, Valencia and Castilla-La Mancha
Ingka Group, the company that owns the majority of Ikea stores, has committed to an investment of more than 100 million euros for the development of five photovoltaic solar parks in Spain. Construction will begin at the end of this year and the new facilities will be located in Andalucía, the Valencia region and Castilla-La Mancha.
The project is part of the 6.5 billion euro investment by the Group to become an energy independent business by 2030.
Today, the Ingka Group owns and manages 547 wind turbines in 14 countries, 10 solar parks, and 935,000 solar panels on the roofs of Ikea stores and warehouses. Together, this produces more than 4 TWh, equivalent to the annual electricity consumption of more than one million European homes.
