North Carolina ranked seventh in solar energy capacity across the nation, according to a March 10 report from the Solar Energy Industries Association.
A state’s installed solar energy capacity is the maximum output of solar electricity that can be generated under ideal conditions. The capacity is calculated for the total number of solar panels installed in a year.
North Carolina has historically been a leader in solar energy, Lindsey Hallock, who serves as senior regional director for the Southeast region of Vote Solar, said.
