Officials seek $2M grant to bring solar energy, home upgrades to Ann Arbor neighborhood

ANN ARBOR, MI — Plans to make the Bryant neighborhood in Ann Arbor one of the first decarbonized neighborhoods in the United States could get a big boost if local officials are successful in a grant application they’re now making.In collaboration with Ann Arbor’s sustainability office, the Washtenaw County Office of Community and Economic Development is seeking up to $2 million in competitive funds through the U.S. Department of Energy’s Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy to decarbonize up to 30 homes in the southeast Ann Arbor neighborhood.If the grant request is successful, funds could be used over three years for home improvements, solar panel installations, workforce development and community building, according to a resolution unanimously approved by the county board Wednesday night, March 16, authorizing the application.Ann Arbor aims to make Bryant…
