RAPID CITY, S.D. — Spring forward means changing your clocks (ahead one hour) and changing your batteries, especially in your weather radios.
Although winter temperatures are lingering, spring and severe weather season are right around the corner.
“When you’re changing your clocks ahead, it’s also a good time to put new batteries in your weather radio. Especially in the spring, it’s a good idea because severe weather season is coming up and so then you’ll have your radio available in case the power goes out,” says Meteorologist Susan Sanders with the Rapid City National Weather Service.
The transition from Winter Storm Watches to Severe Thunderstorm Watches can be as brief as the passage of one front, so it’s important to be prepared before lightning strikes.
