At Fogtown Brewing, we recognize the importance of clean energy for our business and our community. Maine breweries have emerged as a beacon of social and ecological responsibility, and it’s always been part of our mission to incorporate responsible business practices. With support from a federal grant, we installed our solar power system in the summer of 2019 as a means to offset our carbon footprint, and to show other local entities that it could be a profitable and responsible choice for them as well.
The 57 solar panels on our roof generate about 20 MWh annually, offsetting about 73 percent of our electric energy usage. They save us more on our electric bills than our loan payments costs, essentially costing us nothing right from the get-go.
