Visakhapatnam: Andhra Pradesh is gradually embracing suitable battery energy storage systems (BESS) in conjunction with the solar, wind, and solar-wind hybrid projects. The recent NITI Aayog report on ‘need for advanced chemistry cell energy storage in India’ has stressed on the need for cell energy storage projects as the projected substantial growth may warrant gigascale manufacturing capacity in the coming years.
Three energy storage projects of Andhra Pradesh are in various stages of execution. Energy storage systems enable storage of surplus energy generated and provide the stored energy for use whenever required.
