Why Solar Energy Stocks Jumped Today

What happened 
Solar energy stocks had a good day for a change on Tuesday as the market bid up technology and growth stocks. The market’s move was a reaction to Russia pulling some troops back from the Ukraine border and possibly opening up diplomatic talks. 
Enphase Energy (NASDAQ:ENPH) was up as much as 7.6% in today’s trading, Sunrun (NASDAQ:RUN) jumped 10.3%, and JinkoSolar (NYSE:JKS) popped 13.3%. The three stocks closed the day up 7.2%, 8.9%, and 12.9%, respectively.

So what 
Solar stocks are typically very volatile, so when the market moves up or down, the moves are magnified in solar stocks. Today, the S&P 500 closed 1.6% higher, and the Nasdaq Composite was up 2.5%, which is likely a big driver of solar stocks today.
