MARY’S – Council for the Municipality of the District of St. Mary’s will investigate joining the provincial government’s Property Assessed Clean Energy Program (PACE), which helps homeowners pay for solar upgrades to their properties. At A Feb. 2 committee of the whole (COTW) meeting, incoming CAO Marissa Jordan noted increasing interest among residents in renewables. While the province offers several energy efficiency home upgrade programs, she said, PACE is also geared towards people interested in retrofitting their homes with solar energy technology. “That’s very expensive to do,” she noted. “Municipalities can create their own PACE program or they can also join an existing one.
