Chilean development agency Corfo has selected six green hydrogen projects to receive a government subsidy totaling US$50mn. The winning projects were presented by Enel Green Power, Engie, GNL Quintero, CAP, Air Liquide and Linde. Six additional projects were not selected. Awarded project owners have until the end of 2025 to install the committed electrolyzer capacity. The round is a key component of Chile’s national hydrogen development strategy, which seeks to turn the country into a world-class producer and exporter of the low emissions fuel by 2030. The plan is supported by several estimates saying the Andean nation has the potential to produce the cheapest green hydrogen molecule in the world, owing to its plentiful renewable energy resources, especially solar in the north and wind in the south.
